Its entrances are on Market Place and Lancaster Road, and the official visitor guide puts it about ten minutes on foot from the railway station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The caf\u00e9 opens Monday\u2013Friday, 10am\u20134pm; Saturday, 9.30am\u20134pm; and Sunday, 11am\u20133.30pm. The building stays open until 9pm on Thursdays, but that does not mean the caf\u00e9 serves that late. For October 2026, note the announced staff-training closure on Tuesday 13 October until 12.30pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Friargate: pick the bar or the upstairs restaurant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.plau.co.uk\/\">PLAU<\/a> at 115 Friargate brings together its main bar, Fino Tapas upstairs and Rivington Brewing in the basement Vaults. Specify which part you are meeting in. \u201cSee you at PLAU\u201d is less useful if one person expects a drink and the other has reserved dinner upstairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main bar currently serves food daily from noon to 7pm, on a walk-in basis. Its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plau.co.uk\/food\">bar-food menu<\/a> lists Welsh rarebit with salad at \u00a310.50 and butter pie with mash and seasonal greens at \u00a313.50. Two rarebits total \u00a321 before drinks and the optional 10% service charge automatically added to bills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For drinks, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plau.co.uk\/drinks\">house cocktail menu<\/a> lists its named creations at \u00a310.50 each. Set your own pace and ask about non-alcoholic options if you prefer them. Its seasonal tasting menu is currently \u00a379 per person, or \u00a3158 for two before drinks, service and optional additions. This fits an evening you have both chosen to spend on food, rather than a spontaneous quick introduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A shorter set menu is listed at \u00a359 per person. The restaurant\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sevenrooms.com\/experiences\/avenvenue\/the-aven-set-menu-6535268581064704\">set-menu booking page<\/a> excludes Saturday evenings, so do not assume the cheaper menu is available for every reservation.
