Choose coffee first if you prefer a shorter meeting, or agree on breakfast or lunch if you both want food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The caf\u00e9\u2019s current website states that hot food service ends at 3.30pm. Its takeaway and kitchen menus are separate, so compare the eat-in menu for a sit-down date. Check current opening on the venue\u2019s site rather than assuming this is an evening dinner option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Med One: lunch prices and dinner prices are different<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Med One<\/a>, at 10\u201312 Westgate, offers Lebanese food in the centre. Its lunch menu lists chicken shawarma or falafel rolls at \u00a310.95 and several plated dishes, including vegetarian moussaka, at \u00a312.45. Check that lunch service is available on your chosen day before planning around those prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For an evening meal, use its separate dinner menu<\/a>: vegetable maqluba is listed at \u00a316.95 and chicken maqluba at \u00a319.35. This gives you a middle ground between a coffee date and a larger restaurant bill. These are dish prices, excluding drinks and any extras; menus can change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lawrence Batley Theatre: leave time to talk before the show<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Choose a performance from Lawrence Batley Theatre\u2019s current programme<\/a> together. Comedy, drama or dance can give the evening a focus, but do not book something simply because it sounds impressive: both people should want to see it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theatre\u2019s bar opens 90 minutes before shows<\/a> and offers soft drinks and alcohol-free choices as well as beers and wine. Meeting before the performance gives you conversation time. Check the actual show\u2019s ticket price and running time, and arrange dinner separately if you need a full meal; the bar and kiosk are not a restaurant booking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lindley: Eric\u2019s for a longer dinner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Eric\u2019s<\/a> is at 73\u201375 Lidget Street in Lindley, rather than in Huddersfield town centre. Treat it as the main plan for the evening and decide how you will get there and home. A booked restaurant date is better when neither of you is worrying about a surprise bill or a missed connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its autumn \u00e0 la carte menu<\/a> lists butter-roast gnocchi at \u00a322, roast chicken at \u00a328 and fillet steak at \u00a340, with steak sauces adding \u00a33. Starters and desserts increase the spend. The menu is available Tuesday\u2013Saturday at lunch and dinner, and dishes and prices depend on seasonal availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kirkburton: a current food choice, with the journey made clear<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Norman\u2019s Neighbourhood Kitchen<\/a>, at 22A North Road, Kirkburton, serves small plates alongside wine, seasonal cocktails and local beers. It was named a new Bib Gourmand in the 2026 Michelin Guide<\/a>. That makes it a current option for a food-led date beyond the town centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It publishes Tuesday\u2013Saturday opening, 10am\u201310pm, and is closed Sunday\u2013Monday. Check the current menu and food-service times before reserving. With small plates, agree roughly how many dishes you want before ordering; a price per plate does not tell you the total cost of dinner. The restaurant has no parking of its own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep the first meeting proportionate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You can keep a Huddersfield first date to coffee or lunch, make a show the centre of the night, or plan a longer meal in Lindley or Kirkburton. Choose one main commitment first. Moving to a second place should be a shared decision, not an obligation attached to someone buying dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
