Blackpool is an easy place to turn a simple date into an expensive full day. You do not have to. Start with a meal, a seafront walk or one indoor attraction, then decide together whether to stay out longer. A casual date can be playful without becoming a pub crawl or a promise of sex.

FIND PEOPLE NEAR YOU
A short first date: food, then a little of the seafront
Agree a meeting point and keep the first plan small. A sit-down meal gives you a chance to talk before deciding on a walk. If the coast is windy or wet, staying indoors is a perfectly good outcome; you do not need to complete an itinerary.
Yorkshire Fisheries for a smaller food bill
Yorkshire Fisheries is at 14–18 Topping Street. Its published restaurant menu includes a smaller cod-and-chips portion at £6, standard cod and chips at £11, and a homemade fishcake with chips at £7.25. These are food prices; add drinks and any sides to work out your actual budget.
The venue lists Monday–Saturday opening from 11.30am to 7pm, with Sunday closed. Choose it for lunch or an early meal rather than assuming you can eat there after a late show. Check whether you want the restaurant or takeaway menu, as they are separate.
Common for tacos and a contemporary bar setting
Common Bar & Kitchen, at 12 Edward Street, offers a different kind of date meal. The restaurant’s March 2026 menu listing on TheFork shows three halloumi or fried-chicken tacos at £10, beef birria tacos at £12 and burritos with fries at £12. Check the venue’s current menu before relying on those examples.
Common publishes Tuesday–Thursday opening from 4pm–10pm, Friday 4pm–11pm, Saturday noon–midnight and Sunday noon–9pm, with Monday closed. An ordinary dinner or drink is a different booking from a bottomless-brunch package; you can choose the former without making alcohol the centre of the date.
When you want an indoor activity: Showtown or the Tower
Showtown is an all-weather museum about Blackpool’s entertainment world. General admission is £9.50 for adults aged 16 and over. Blackpool residents who pay Blackpool council tax can qualify for free entry under the stated conditions, with advance booking recommended. Do not assume both people qualify because one of you lives locally.
Browse the museum’s current information and choose an entry slot. This is a useful alternative when you would rather have something to explore together than spend the afternoon at a bar. The museum and its History Centre are separate visits; do not use the archive address as your meeting point.
For a view, the current attraction is Blackpool Tower Top. The official Tower site advertises adult tickets from £15, including the 4D cinema experience. Check the operating calendar and any weather restrictions rather than expecting the viewpoint to be available at every hour.
The Ballroom is a separate choice: general adult admission is advertised from £11.50, while afternoon tea is advertised from £30 per person. A Tower Top ticket is not a promise that every attraction or a meal is included. Choose the experience you both want and check exactly what the ticket covers.
Make dinner and a show an evening of their own
Wok Inn on the Promenade
Michael Wan’s Wok Inn is at 118 Promenade. Its Pan-Asian street-food menu and “ruin bar” design offer a food-led evening rather than the original article’s list of nightclubs. The venue currently lists Tuesday–Sunday service from 4pm to 10pm.
For a mid-range meal, its published September 2025 menu lists chicken soup ramen at £16.80, chicken katsu curry at £17.90 and pad Thai at £18.90. Starters, sides and drinks raise the total; confirm current prices before reserving. The menu states a 10% service charge is optional for parties under six.
Viva for a show you actually choose together
Viva Blackpool, at 3 Church Street, has current listings for live music, comedy and cabaret. Pick the show and date together, then check ticket options and whether food is included or purchased separately. A vague plan to “go to Viva” does not identify the performance you will see.
For a first meeting, a meal before the performance gives you some conversation time. If you already know each other, going straight to a show may be enough. Either way, allow a gap between dinner and the advertised start time rather than booking both back to back.
Two seasonal plans to arrange in advance
The 2026 Blackpool Illuminations run from 4 September 2026 to 3 January 2027 and can be seen without an admission charge. Pick a manageable section and check the current display schedule and route for your date. A walk can be inexpensive, but parking, tram rides and food are separate costs. The transport operator publishes Illuminations travel changes, which matter during busy periods.
For a longer date, Pleasure Beach Resort publishes date-specific opening hours and tickets. Its visitor FAQs state that visitors need an eTicket, subject to the stated exceptions, and that individual rides and opening hours can change. Check both people want a theme-park day before paying; this is a larger time and money commitment than a first coffee or lunch.
