Rockfish Poole offers a waterfront meal in the former pottery warehouse. Outdoor tables can be appealing in good weather, but book for the meal rather than assuming you will get a particular seat.
The Poole menu currently lists hake at £25.95 and halloumi tacos at £18.95, both with unlimited chips. Its selected two-course menu is £26.95 per person until 5pm, or £53.90 for two before drinks and any extras. Daily fish availability can change, so check what is being served and its price when you arrive.
A booked Old Town lunch at Guildhall Tavern
Guildhall Tavern, at 15 Market Street, gives you another restaurant choice away from the coffee counter. Its current Wine & Dine lunch is £29 per person for two courses and a 125ml glass of prosecco or house wine. That is £58 for two before anything else you order.
The advertised lunch window is noon–3pm, Monday–Saturday, but the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. Check the offer and booking conditions for your date. If either of you does not drink alcohol, ask about alternatives before reserving rather than treating the included wine as a reason to drink.
Rain need not turn the date into a long pub session
Poole Museum in the Old Town is free to enter and has reopened following its redevelopment. A short look around the harbour and shipwreck galleries gives you something to talk about without paying for an activity package.
The museum and Scaplen’s Court & Garden list daily opening from 10am to 5pm, with last museum admission at 4pm. Check current opening information and any separate event charges. Suggest half an hour in the galleries first; there is no need to make a first date a visit to every floor.
