The published food service runs 11.30am–9pm, even though the pub stays open later. That matters if you are meeting after work: reserve a table for a meal rather than arriving near closing and assuming the kitchen will still take an order.
Indian food and cocktails: Chor Bazaarr
Chor Bazaarr, at 7 Station Road, SL1 6JJ, is an alternative when you both want dinner and a bar setting. Its current offering includes an Indian à la carte menu, brunch and a high-chai experience, plus a separate drinks list. Pick the experience first and agree a budget before booking; these are different menus, rather than one standard set-price evening.
The restaurant publishes Monday closure, evening opening Tuesday–Thursday and opening from noon Friday–Sunday. Check the current menu and booking availability for the day you want. A cocktail is optional: ordering dinner never creates an obligation to drink or take the date further.
For fresh air, arrange the café first and the walk second
Black Park Country Park is in Wexham, near Slough, at Black Park Road, SL3 6DS. Its lake and woodland give you an outdoor plan without having to choose a long hike. For a first meeting, agree on a public café meeting point and a short route that suits you both.
The Four Seasons Café, opened in 2025, is a newer option near the main car park. The council confirms hot food, handmade pizza, snacks and drinks, with indoor seating and a covered outdoor terrace. Walking in the park does not need an admission ticket, but arriving by car adds a cost. Keep a Slough indoor option ready
If you both want an activity, Slough Ice Arena on Montem Lane has public skating and a café. Look at the actual session timetable and price, including skate hire where required. The centre’s opening hours do not mean the rink is available for public skating throughout the day.
Skating is a good choice only if you both want to try it. You can suggest a drink afterwards for conversation rather than expecting either person to spend the session helping the other around the ice.
For a daytime plan with books or local culture, The Curve on William Street houses the library, a gallery and Slough Museum. Check what is available that day; the library is closed on Sundays and bank holidays. Treat it as a browsing stop, with conversation over a drink afterwards, rather than a guarantee of a film screening.
Windsor and Maidenhead are separate trips
Windsor Castle can make a longer second date if you both enjoy historic buildings. It is in Windsor, rather than Slough. Standard 2026 adult admission is £32 in advance or £36 on the day, before transport and food, and the usual visitor days are Thursday–Monday. Check the closure calendar before arranging the trip.
For an actual film or performance, Norden Farm Centre for the Arts has a published programme of cinema, music, comedy and theatre. It is on Altwood Road in Maidenhead, so allow for that journey. Choose a specific showing together and leave time to talk before or afterwards; it is not a Slough town-centre cinema.
Dating casually in Slough: agree what the meeting means
